Use simple electrical tape to create the effect, and use different colours for different sabers to create a realistic battle scene in photographs.
With the camera flash turned on the effect is electrifying. Without the flash, the lightsaber looks quite different.
Create your own realistic lightsaber
Use this cool idea to impress your friends at the next costume party or Star Wars convention. The resulting photos of you with your lightsaber will dazzle and baffle everyone… how did they do it? It looks so awesome all lit up in the photos and yet at a glance it’s so simple. This is also an excellent idea for use as a photo prop and it’s very simple to create. Here’s how:
- Find a long tapered item like a stick, broom handle, pool cue or old fishing rod
- Buy some reflective tape from a hardware or safety store.
- Wrap it around your stick. The rougher the better as the cracks and lumps increase the “plasma” effect.
- Set up a photo with the perfect pose. Make sure you have flash turned on your camera or phone and shoot away. It’s that simple.
- If you want the effect shown in the ‘agonising’ photo above, simply push your lightsaber through your shirt front and unpick or cut a small hole behind the sleeve join.
